As part of Immigration NZ’s staged transition to the National Occupation List (NOL), to replace ANZSCO, 91 new skill level 1-3 occupations will be added to the accredited employer work visa system from 3 November 2025.
These skill level 1-3 occupations will allow a maximum continuous stay of five years in New Zealand. People in these roles may also be able to support a partner and children for dependent visas.
Some skill level 4-5 work visa holders may also transition directly into these roles if they have either three years of directly relevant work experience or a recognised qualification. This allow the visa to be extended for two years.
What employers need to know
Employers can submit a job check for any of the 91 new roles from 3 November 2025.
Before doing so, employers must advertise correctly and ensure the job description and remuneration must clearly match the responsibilities and skill level of the chosen role.
