Settlement support activities
Employers have additional responsibilities when recruiting for and employing migrant staff.
Under the Accredited Employer policies, employers are required to complete settlement support activities and to ensure that their migrant workers have all the information required to work and live in New Zealand. Employers must provide information to their new migrants about the local community and services, as well as work related matters, including:
- accommodation
- transportation options
- the cost of living
- how to access healthcare services
- Citizens Advice Bureau services
- relevant community groups
- how to obtain an IRD number from Inland Revenue
Greenstone Immigration will work with employers to ensure they provide the correct information and keep appropriate records of their activities required at the Accredited Employer renewal stage.

POEA requirements
Even before some migrants are able to enter New Zealand, they will need to have completed exit clearance processes in their home countries. For instance, Filipino workers who are still in the Philippines and their employers will have to complete the requirements of the Department of Migrant Workers (“DMW”).
