In December 2015 Immigration New Zealand announced a review of its Long Term and Immediate Skills Shortage Lists. The detailed announcement can be found here: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/generalinformation/news/esidreview2015.html.
Of particular importance to many of our clients is that INZ will remove Dairy and Beef Assistant Herd Manager and Herd Managers from the Immediate Skills Shortage List from 30 May 2016. This means that all New Zealand dairy and beef employers will now have to show that they have made a genuine attempt to recruit or train New Zealanders for the position. Furthermore, for Assistant Herd Manager, the position will also have to be listed with WINZ and INZ must decline any application which is not supported by WINZ. Careful planning and preparation are therefore required for work visa applications for these occupations after 31 May 2006.
